Codonopsis pilosula

The function of Dangshen is to replenish qi, promote body fluid, nourish blood, tonify and level, not dry and not greasy, and enter the spleen and lung channels. Qi tonic power is inferior to ginseng. It is mainly used for anorexia caused by deficiency of temper, fatigue of body, weakness of limbs, abdominal distension, vomiting, and formlessness of stool. Shortness of breath, cough and asthma due to deficiency of lung qi, deficiency of pulse and self perspiration, can also be used for sallow complexion, dizziness and palpitation due to deficiency of blood. Dangshen contains saponins, sugars, amino acids, vitamins, etc.
